A city with rich cultural heritage and history, Hassan is a town in the state of Karnataka, in the south-western region of the state. The tourist places in Hassan offer a plethora of options to travellers - from basking in the spirituality of religious places to exploring finely crafted medieval architecture to gorgeous scenic beauty and more. Hassan is a quiet, sleepy town - the complete opposite of what it was during the rule of the Hoysalas when it was a bustling town of great importance. Hassan attractions include the Hasanamba Temple, after which the city was named, the Shetihalli Church, a church in ruins which is submerged by the backwaters of a river, and Mosale village which is home to two temples with elegant Hoysala architecture. The Gorur Dam, on the Hemavathy River, is another Hassan sightseeing option, while the Bisle Ghat, 90 km from Hassan, offers spectacular views from the hilltop and is a nature lover's dream destination.
